CAFNR Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month

Learn more about some of our Hispanic alumni in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept. 15-Oct. 15). More stories to come!

CAFNR Week: Oct. 3-7

CAFNR Week is a weeklong celebration of CAFNR students, featuring numerous events that allow students to connect with each other, make new friendships and have fun! Below is a schedule for the week — and make sure to register your team for the events!

Monday, Oct. 3:
Mud Volleyball
Time: Check in at 4:30 p.m., First Game at 5 p.m.
Location: South Farm
CAFNR Corner (corner of Rollins and Hitt): Dairy Club will be handing out ice cream to students wearing CAFNR gear

Tuesday, Oct. 4:
Trivia

Time: Check in at 5:30 p.m., Start at 6 p.m.
Location: Shakespeare’s South
CAFNR Corner (corner of Rollins and Hitt): Women of Natural Resources will be having a bake sale (10 a.m.-4 p.m.)

Wednesday, Oct. 5:
Capture the Flag

Time: Check in at 4:30 p.m., First Game at 5 p.m.
Location: Jefferson Farm
CAFNR Corner (corner of Rollins and Hitt): Ag Ed Society will be handing out donuts to those wearing CAFNR gear (8 a.m. until they run out), and SAIFD will be selling plants (9-11 a.m.)

Thursday, Oct. 6:
CAFNR Rodeo

Time: Check in at 6:30 p.m., Start 7 p.m.
Location: Trowbridge
CAFNR Corner (corner of Rollins and Hitt): Mizzou Collegiate Cattlewomen will be selling muffins and coffee (7:45 a.m.-1 p.m. or until they run out)

Friday, Oct. 7:
CAFNR Corner (corner of Rollins and Hitt): MU Collegiate Farm Bureau will be selling brats (11 a.m.-1 p.m.)

Fall 2022 CAFNR/Arts and Science Career Fair »

The Fall 2022 CAFNR/Arts and Science Career Fair is scheduled from 12-4 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 3, in the Mizzou Rec Center. All Mizzou students are welcome to participate. Interested students can visit Handshake to see a complete list of registered organizations and download the Career Fair Plus app from the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play (Android). Professional attire is required.

CAFNR has two upcoming winter break study abroad programs for interested students: Costa Rica and Italy.

Costa Rica: By experiencing a variety of specific ecosystems first-hand, students will learn about broad principles of forest ecology, the challenges with conservation of natural resources in Costa Rica, and current projects focused on restoration of important ecological systems. Well-known for its diversity of habitats and species, Costa Rica offers an ideal setting for immersion into complex and highly biodiverse forest ecosystems. Applications are due Oct. 1.

Italy: Gain knowledge on the causes, measurement and consequences of food insecurity in the world in addition to remedies proposed and actions taken to end hunger. Learn about Italy’s special role in addressing sustainability in the food system and developing solutions to the age-old problem of hunger. Applications are due Oct. 1.

Topics in Agricultural Education and Leadership (click to read)
Topics in Agricultural Education and Leadership »

The Topics in Agricultural Education and Leadership course (AG_ED_LD 4001), taught by John Tummons, an associate teaching professor in the Division of Applied Social Sciences, teaches students about a variety of specialized topics related to agricultural education. Students have the opportunity to educate Missouri high school students as well, through the Agriculture Education on the Move program.

  • Mizzou recently announced its 2022 Top 10 Homecoming Royalty, and Jacob Hall, a senior agriculture major, was selected as one of the 10. Homecoming Royalty is a tradition that allows the University to honor those students who best represent the spirit of Mizzou. Homecoming events are scheduled throughout October, with the parade and football game taking place Saturday, Oct. 22.
