Grellner, B.S. ’18 Animal Sciences, was a member of the 2018 judging team and is eager to restart the program.

Applause
  • The Mizzou NAMA team received first place out of 30 teams from across the U.S. and Canada in the student marketing competition at the 2024 Agri-Marketing Conference held in Kansas City, April 9-11. The team is coached by Annette Kendall, professor in the Division of Applied Social Sciences, and includes Anna Eitel (senior, agriculture), Rachel Ancell (junior, agribusiness management), Emma Steele (sophomore, agricultural education – communication and leadership), Teagan Engle (sophomore, agricultural education – communication and leadership, NAMA president), and Elsie Kigar (junior, agribusiness management).
  • The MU Soils Judging team placed 4th in a field of 16 at the North American Colleges and Teachers of Agriculture Judging Conference, held April 9-12 in Canyon, Texas. Mizzou, scoring only one point behind the third-place team, was represented by 22 CAFNR students from the School of Natural Resources and the Division of Plant Science and Technology. Emma Knudsen, a junior in environmental science was the top scoring individual from MU and won 5th place. Sam Lestina and Kali Dolson, both seniors in environmental science, also scored in the top 20 for individuals.
  • The Mizzou Dairy Products Evaluation Team competed in the National Dairy Products Evaluation contest on April 16, in Madison, Wisconsin, hosted by the Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association. The team includes both undergraduate and graduate members, and is coached by Rick Linhardt, instructor in the Division of Food, Nutrition and Exercise Sciences.
  • Two CAFNR undergraduate students have received the Goldwater Scholarship, one of the most prestigious national scholarships in natural sciences, engineering and mathematics in the United States. Juniors Carissa Bersche and Rachel Weber, who are both pursuing a biochemistry degree, are among the 441 recipients coming from a pool of more than 5,000 college sophomores and juniors.
  • Multiple CAFNR students pursuing the Honors Certificate were recognized for their outstanding achievements over the past year during the recent Honors College Spring Awards ceremony. The annual event features multiple scholarships and awards for Tigers across campus. The celebration was held on Tuesday, April 15, at the State Historical Society of Missouri.
  • CAFNR students and their faculty mentors were recognized for their work at Show Me Research Week, a celebration of student research and creative activity representing almost every field and discipline on campus. About 500 Mizzou students and postdoctoral fellows presented projects from April 14 to April 17, and of the students who chose to have their work judged, several received awards in each category at the closing reception in Memorial Union.
  • The Mizzou Meat Judging team rounded out their spring semester judging at the Southeastern Intercollegiate Meats Judging contest, where they received 3rd place overall. The team includes Claire Walker (junior, agribusiness management), Avery Wiegand (junior, agribusiness management), Libby Kleinsorge (junior, agricultural education), and Sidney Engelmeyer (junior, microbiology).
  • The Mizzou Collegiate Cattlemen hosted their annual Meet Your Meat event on April 17 on Lowry Mall, where students could feed and pet a tame cow and buy a ribeye sandwich. The group sold over 400 ribeye sandwiches and talked to over 1,000 students about the beef industry.
  • Students in our VITA Tax Prep program completed over 550 tax returns for the Columbia community at the Family Impact Center (FIC) and over 140 mostly student tax returns at the Office for Financial Success (OFS).
