Description
Newell Kitchen is a soil scientist with the USDA-Agricultural Research Service, Cropping Systems and Water Quality Research Unit.
There are three primary facets of his current research program, to:
- Identify farming systems and individual management practices that maximize grain production and minimize nutrient and pesticide losses off fields.
- Understand the processes that impact fate and transport of agrichemicals.
- Spatially measure soil and landscape properties that impact crop production to develop improved methods for agrichemical inputs.
His research is being conducted on claypan and alluvial soils of Missouri.
