Mariola Klepadlo manages the disease resistance core of the Molecular Genetics and Soybean Genomics Laboratory. Her main research focus is to conduct genomics-assisted breeding and gene discovery for resistance to multiple nematodes (Soybean Cyst Nematode, Root-Knot Nematode, and Reniform Nematode) and soil pathogens (Phytophthora sojae, Fusarium graminearum, and Pythium spp.).
Her research interests are focusing on the identification and characterization of quantitative trait loci (QTL), fine-mapping of identified QTL, developing near-isogenic lines (NILs) and resistant soybean germplasm using marker-assisted backcrossing (MAB), and assisting in the management of the soybean genome sequencing and mapping combined with discovery of single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) markers and computational analyses.
