My research emphasizes local governments and their approach toward community economic development, often focusing on non-metropolitan contexts. I specifically focus on the phenomenon of local economic revitalization: evaluating prevalent programs and policies (such as the Main Street Program) and observing the collaboration between public- and private-sector actors (especially small-business owners) in their efforts to preserve, restore and fully utilize their downtown business districts.
I work with MU Extension’s Regional Economic & Entrepreneurial Development program (Exceed).
