

Vice President Global Scientific and Regulatory Affairs at The Coca-Cola Company

Dr. Wamwari Waichungo serves as Vice President, Global Scientific and Regulatory Affairs. In this role, she leads The Coca-Cola Company’s efforts to develop and implement a globally aligned scientific strategy that promotes the safety and benefits of Coca-Cola products, packages and ingredients. In May 2014, the Board of The Coca-Cola Company elected Dr. Waichungo as a Vice President and Officer of the Company.
Wamwari joined The Coca-Cola Company in 2000 as Strategic Marketing Manager in the Northern African Division based in Nairobi, Kenya. She subsequently held positions of increasing responsibility including Innovation Manager, East Africa & Islands Region, Strategy & Planning Director, Nigeria & Equatorial Africa Business Unit based in Lagos, Nigeria, Executive Assistant to Africa Group President, based in Windsor, United Kingdom, Strategy & Business Planning Director for the North & West Africa Business Unit based in Cairo, Egypt and Strategy, Planning & Insights Director in the South Africa Business unit based in Johannesburg, South Africa. Prior to joining The Coca-Cola Company, Wamwari held product and consumer research roles at Campbell Soup Company and ConAgra Foods.
She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition from Montclair State University and an MSc and PhD in Food Science from the University of Missouri-Columbia and attended the Program for Leadership Development at Harvard Business School.

The program, inaugurated in February 1997 by faculty and staff as a collaborative learning experience for students, takes place in an informal environment that allows participation to be spontaneous and infectious.
