Month in Review

We are all shocked and saddened by the passing of James Hundle, assistant to the vice chancellor and dean. Please consider taking advantage of the Mizzou resources I shared on Friday for support during this difficult time. I care about all of you and want you to take good care of yourselves. I am grateful for all of the great work that James did for so many years for our college. We miss him already. I invite you to join in celebrating James with family and friends:

  • Celebration of life, hosted by friends and family: 3 p.m., Friday, Oct. 22, Trowbridge Event Center, 1024 Ashland Rd.
  • Honor James’ memory with a gift to MU: James R. Hundle Memorial Fund, mizzougivedirect.missouri.edu

This month, I visited with alumni and friends including Lowell and JoAnn Mohler, Chuck and Ina Rae Brazeale, and Lowell Miller, and enjoyed being a part of Tyne Morgan’s U.S. Farm Report College Roadshow again! I met with Chris Chinn, Director of the Missouri Department of Agriculture, and participated in a Leadership Circle meeting for MO-5, part of our Show-Me-State Food, Beverage and Forest Products Manufacturing Initiative.

I love seeing our alumni come back to campus – to the Ag Building in particular – for homecoming! Katie and I had a great time visiting with alumni and friends at the CAFNR Alumni Association parade watch party at the corner of Hitt and Rollins the morning of Oct. 9th. It was a great day for a parade – and a Mizzou win.

It was energizing to attend the opening of the NextGen Precision Health Building this morning. Tours of the building will be available in the weeks to come – sign up online if you are interested!

CAFNR Week was a tremendous success. Thanks to all who had a part in making it a great week for our students. We are excited about the progress we are making in realizing the goals outlined in our Strategic Plan…even through a pandemic and challenging days. I will talk about that more at the upcoming Novemberfest on Friday, Nov. 12, at 3 p.m. I hope you are planning to attend!

Lowell Mohler is a most deserving recipient of the 2021 @MizzouAlumni Distinguished Service Award! Congratulations to an inspiring @cafnr alum. I look forward to celebrating you in November!

Tiger Roars!

CAFNR alumni and friends raised $30,000 for student scholarships at last month’s Tiger Classic golf tournament.

Of Note

Please encourage students to attend the Mizzou-Wide Virtual Career Fair, Wednesday, Oct. 20, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. This online career fair is open to all Mizzou students and will take place via the Career Fair Plus technology platform. One-hundred and forty-four organizations are registered and are eager to talk to Mizzou Tigers about internships and full-time career opportunities!

Update on the BOX Migration: The final Box migration is underway and many of you may have already received notice that your data has been fully migrated. As a review this is the process that is currently taking place:

Users are notified that their migration is beginning, and their Box account is set to read only. You can still access files in Box but you will not be able to save changes back to Box or add new files to Box. If you make changes to Box files you will need to save them to an alternative location such as OneDrive and then merge these files with your migrated Box data when you receive notice that your migration is complete. Migrated files can be found in your OneDrive account in a folder titled “MigratedBoxFiles.” If you feel you are still missing data after you receive a message that your data has completed the migration process please report this by emailing cafnrit@missouri.edu.

Box accounts tied to resource accounts will be migrated once the individual Box accounts are fully migrated.

If you have been given access to Box data from other institutions such as another university, you have two options.

  1. You can set up a Box account using a personal account or create a new email account with services like gmail.com or live.com and request that the other institution add this new account to the Box share.
  2. We can delete your current University Enterprise Box account and then you can set up a new standard Box account using your university email address. You will still need to request that the other institution re-add the account to a file share as it will be removed when your Box account is deleted. The downside of this option is that your current Box account will be completely deleted and if anything was missed or corrupted during the migration there will be no option for campus to go back and try to recover that data.
