Business and technical knowledge will prepare you for a variety of careers, including:

  • Agricultural & Power Equipment Manufacturing. Train in precision agriculture, hydraulics, electrical circuits, engines and technology management.
  • Equipment Sales & Service. Strong product knowledge and business skills are a great fit for agricultural machinery dealerships. Our graduates often go directly into management-level positions.
  • Food Production & Processing. Work as grain elevator or food processing operators and managers to properly handle, store and process crops and materials.

Hands-On Learning

  • Learning Labs. Participate in hands-on educational experience at the ADM Center for Agricultural Development, a research lab facility designed for agricultural systems management students to hone team and entrepreneur skills while learning about biofuel development, food production and energy processing. Opportunities also exist at our research centers throughout the state.
  • Internships. Students typically spend one or more summers working at respected businesses and agencies throughout the country. They are often expected to manage some of the day-to-day activities of that business. When students accept a second internship at the same company, they usually become part of the leadership team.

Signature Experience

One of the many unique experiences available for ag systems technology students is the chance to earn a certificate in precision agriculture technology. Precision agriculture is a management practice used by farmers to collect data, study variables, develop strategies and implement plans on their farm.
