2007 Outstanding Junior: Erin Sappington

Erin Sappington

ERIN SAPPINGTON'S list of achievements is truly daunting. This agricultural education major is a John Brown Scholar who maintains a 3.89 GPA, all while participating in a dizzying array of extracurricular and official activities. Among other things and in addition to being a volunteer at the Red Cross, she is president of the Sigma Alpha Sorority, training coordinator for LEAD Mizzou, a Peer Career coach, a supervisor at the MU Career Center, and a course instructor for a career explorations class. Her truly amazing achievements are an example to her fellow students and are enough to make any college proud.

Don't think that her commitment to her studies and activities imply that she is not fun to be around because, while she is professional and hardworking, her sense of humor, warm smile and sparkling wit make the time working with her a joy. She genuinely cares about her sorority, her sisters and everyone with whom she comes into contact.

"SIMPLY PUT, ERIN IS A CLASS ACT. SHE SHINES BOTH ACADEMICALLY AND THOUGH HER EXTRACURRICULAR PURSUITS. SHE DOES IT ALL, AND SHE DOES IT WELL. ERIN IS TIMELY AND ATTENTIVE TO ALL FACETS OF HER ACADEMIC CAREER. SHE IS A FAIR AND COMPASSIONATE LEADER WHO EXPECTS THE BEST FROM HER SISTERS, JUST AS SHE EXPECTS THE BEST FROM HERSELF."

— Jane Loudermilk, Sigma Alpha adviser

Sappington has made the most of her time at CAFNR, and, as much as the education she has received is an asset to her, so too will her status as an alumna be an asset to the College. Her dedication to her studies and her fellow students are an inspiration.

"She is very deserving of this award," says Loudermilk. "She is truly a good one."
