Get to Know Shanon Dickerson

Dickerson is the director of CAFNR Study Abroad

What are your job duties/job responsibilities in the College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources?

As the CAFNR Director of Study Abroad, my job is to help students find the right study abroad program to enhance their college experience. I work with faculty and partners abroad to build a diverse portfolio of offerings to meet all our students’ needs. I also do a lot of marketing/program promotion, set-up study abroad fairs, distribute scholarships, and present at the pre-travel orientations sessions preparing students for their experience abroad.

How long have you worked in CAFNR?

I started working for CAFNR in August of 2016.

What do you enjoy about working for CAFNR/Mizzou?

I feel very fortunate to work with wonderful people who are always willing to collaborate and think outside the box. From my supportive APO (Academic Programs) family, to our talented communications team, to our excellent faculty who make study abroad come to life, everyone in CAFNR pulls together to create unique study abroad opportunities that fit our students’ academic and career goals.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

My hobbies include photography, gardening and trying new art mediums like pottery and knitting.

What is something your co-workers/other CAFNR employees don’t know about you?

I love learning so much that I actually took extra classes outside my major just for fun in college. To ensure that I took study breaks during grad school, I enrolled in several physical education courses including Taekwondo, ballet and horseback riding. I continue to be a lifelong learner and have enjoyed taking various courses throughout my career in language, floral design, psychology and rural policy.
