What are your job duties/job responsibilities in the College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources?
I am thrilled to serve as the senior director of advancement for CAFNR, working under the executive director, Shawn Poore. In my role, I visit with CAFNR alumni, friends and corporate sponsors to build relationships and raise funds for things like scholarships, special initiatives and capital projects. I liaison to the Division of Animal Sciences, the Division of Plant Science and Technology, and the Division of Biochemistry on behalf of our office.
How long have you worked in CAFNR?
I joined the CAFNR Advancement team on November 1. Previously, I worked in major gift officer roles in Chicago at Lake Forest College, in California at Santa Clara University and most recently at the University of Missouri System Office of Engagement and Outreach. At the System, I worked under Marshall Stewart in his chief engagement officer role. I had great teammates in Ashley Rhode and Alison Copeland, who many CAFNR faculty and staff know.
What do you enjoy about working for CAFNR/Mizzou?
As I was interviewing for this role, the thing that really stood out to me was the footprint of our CAFNR students, faculty, staff and alumni. We have incredible assets, from our research centers to our world-class faculty, staff and students. This makes the case for philanthropic support strong (and my job much easier!). I’m excited to build relationships and raise funds to help our faculty, staff and students do more of what they already excel at.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
Being the proud father of a 3-year-old, Calvin Michael, free time is not something I have much of! When I do find a moment, I enjoy going on family walks to the park, weightlifting, playing games with friends and cooking.
What is something your co-workers/other CAFNR employees don’t know about you?
I can play almost any percussion instrument and the harmonica.
