The first Tomato Day at the Horticulture and Agroforestry Research Center took place Thursday, Aug. 1, at the Research Center in New Franklin. Attendees tasted tomatoes and melons, and heard from a variety of speakers on tomato-related topics.

CAFNR International Programs hosted a welcome event for Kerry Clark as she started her official first day as director Aug. 1. It included listening sessions where attendees discussed experiences as international faculty and students.

Dr. Debdutt Behura, an agricultural economist at Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) in Bhubaneshwar, India, presents on “Sustainability, livelihood and gender issues in rice farming households in Odisha, India,” during a recent visit to CAFNR. OUAT is the only university established by our College of Agriculture (CAFNR). OUAT is one of nine agriculture universities established by U.S. land-grant universities in India with Rockefeller and Ford Foundations and U.S. State Department funds between 1950 and 1962. Over 60 faculty from CAFNR spent time in Odisha state and Bhubaneshwar from 1955-62. (Odisha was known as Orissa state in those days.) The presentation was sponsored by CAFNR International Programs.

The Greenley Research Center hosted a Conservation Showcase during the week of July 22-26 at the Grace Greenley Farm. The Conservation Showcase was a partnership between the Research Center and Missouri Land Improvement Contractors Association. Guests heard educational presentations throughout the event.

The University of Missouri College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources weed science program held its annual Pest Management Field Day on Tuesday, July 9, at the Bradford Research Center in Columbia. Will Tubbs, master's student, plant sciences, presented during the field day.
