Geoff Cockfield, Australian scholar and Fulbright Visiting Scholar at Kansas State University, gave two presentations at CAFNR this week, including the one pictured here: "Australia's carbon farming scheme: Operation, impacts and issues." Cockfield is a professor in government and economics in the School of Commerce and Director of the Centre for Sustainable Agricultural Systems at the University of Southern Queensland. For his Fulbright project, he is comparing U.S. and Australian agricultural policy, particularly considering the different choices of policy instruments.

Nichole Smith, administrative assistant in the School of Natural Resources Office of Academic Programs, received the CAFNR Staff Advisory Council Above and Beyond Award in recognition of her contributions to delivery of student services at the recent Staff Council Advisory Board Chili Luncheon. Carol Swaim, agricultural education and leadership program administrative assistant, received the CAFNR Staff Advisory Council Above and Beyond Award in recognition of her exceptional service, flexibility and mentorship of undergraduate student workers at the recent Staff Council Advisory Board Chili Luncheon. She was nominated by Jon Simonsen, associate professor and department chair, agricultural education and leadership.
