SNR Research Day

The School of Natural Resources held its 2nd Annual Research Day May 3, with keynote speakers, new faculty presentations and a poster competition for undergraduate and graduate students, and visiting scholars submitting posters. Opening remarks were given by Dr. Mark McIntosh, Vice Chancellor for Research, Graduate Studies and Economic Development; and UM System Vice President for Research and Economic Development. The plenary speaker was Steve Shifley, U.S. Forest Service. The SNR Advisory Council also held its spring meeting in the afternoon with members also participating in the morning’s presentations.

Michelle Brooks, greenhouse coordinator, plant sciences, received the IPG Community Award for her exceptional efforts in support of the campus plant biology community. Brooks is a member of the Core Committee and is also the Client Representative with the project construction team for the East Campus Plant Growth Facility. She was surprised with the award by members of the IPG Executive Committee and her supervisor, Mary Ann Gowdy, assistant teaching professor in plant sciences.

Dr. Ian Pepper, Professor and Director of the National Science Foundation Water & Environmental Technology Center (WET), at the University of Arizona, presented the 2018 Earth Day-W.A. Albrecht Lecture April 25. Pepper presented on "The Soil Health-Human Health Nexus."

Meat Meet

The Mizzou Collegiate Cattlewomen hosted the 9th Annual Meet Your Meat event at Traditions Plaza April 18. Attendees were able to pet live heifers, learn about cattle and get a ribeye sandwich for lunch.

Soil Judging Team

Soil Judging Team

Members of the award-winning Mizzou Soil Judging Team: Luke Eaton, Willow Dean, Lindsey Anderson and Sarah Higgins. The team placed first at the North American Colleges and Teachers of Agriculture (NACTA) Contest in April.
