Colleagues in the College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources:
We are working efficiently and aggressively to have new leadership in place in the summer of 2017, and I have three items on which to update you on our progress so far.
First, after careful consideration of the nominations I received for the Interim leadership role, I asked Dr. Marc Linit to serve as Interim Vice Chancellor and Dean effective January 1, and he has graciously agreed to do so. I know you will provide him all the support he will need in the months that he will be in place. I have every confidence that he will work effectively with CAFNR’s internal and external constituents and with my office as well. I look forward to working with him and with all of you in the months ahead as we prepare the College to welcome a new leader.
Second, we have retained an excellent search firm, Baker & Associates, to assist us in this search. The firm has extensive expertise in higher education searches, and Martin Baker has recent experience working with Mizzou on our successful Vice Chancellor for Extension and Engagement search that led to the hire of Marshall Stewart.
Finally, from the more than 100 nominations received for service, the search committee of 23 colleagues representing CAFNR’s internal and external stakeholders has been formed. A list of committee members is available on your college’s website at: https://cafnr.missouri.edu/about/dean-search.php.
Your participation in this process is vitally important to the success of the search effort. Please consider nominating qualified and outstanding candidates for this position. Those nominations should be sent to:
Martin M. Baker, Senior Vice President
Baker and Associates LLC
4799 Olde Towne Parkway – Suite 202

If you’ve questions or a concern regarding the search, please contact Teresa Davis in the Office of the Provost or Mark McIntosh, Chair of the search committee.
The College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources plays a critical role in meeting Mizzou’s mission and its performance is essential for Mizzou’s success. We anticipate more great things in the future for this college! Thanks for all you are doing for Mizzou.
Sincerely,
Garnett S. Stokes
Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs
