Equine Online

Online auction open for horses raised by MU Equine Program

The University of Missouri Animal Science Equine Program will be auctioning off six registered Quarter Horses trained by students in coordination with courses taught at the MU Equine Teaching Facility. The program will be selling two yearlings and four weanlings all of which were bred and raised by students in the program. All bidding will take place online; the auction website is available at animalsciences.missouri.edu/horses/premier/ or can be accessed from the MU Equine Program webpage at horses.missouri.edu. The 2015 online auction opens Oct. 12, and ends Nov. 12 at 7 p.m.

A Horse Sale Preview day will take place at the Equine Teaching Facility Nov. 7, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to allow potential buyers an opportunity to personally inspect sale horses, browse through the sale portfolio, and view the horses being worked by their student trainers. This event is held at the University of Missouri Equine Teaching Facility, located at 4400 E. New Haven Road, Columbia, MO. The student trainers will be working with the horses throughout the day and marketing students will be available to visit with prospective buyers.

All proceeds from the sale benefit the MU Equine Program and support students. Funds are directly used to care for the teaching herd and purchase classroom supplies. Additionally, this auction provides students with valuable real-world experiences both training horses and professionally communicating with potential buyers.
