The College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources and the School of Natural Resources will celebrate spring commencement Saturday, May 16.
CAFNR’s spring commencement ceremony will be at 1 p.m. at the Hearnes Center. CAFNR will have approximately 400 graduates. The commencement speaker will be Attorney General Chris Koster.
Koster is serving his second term as Attorney General of the state of Missouri. From 2004-8 he represented the Missouri Senate’s 31st district, which covers Cass, Johnson, Bates and Vernon counties. Prior to his election to the Missouri Senate, Koster served as Cass County prosecuting attorney for 10 years. He is an alumnus of the University of Missouri, receiving a liberal arts degree in 1987, and a law degree in 1991, in addition to a Master’s in Business from Washington University in St. Louis in 2002.
The School of Natural Resources’ ceremony will be at 6:30 p.m. in Jesse Auditorium. SNR will have about 150 graduates this spring. The speaker at the ceremony will be James T. Blair, IV, Missouri Department of Conservation Commission Chairman.
The Conservation Commission is made up of four members appointed by the governor to each serve a six-year term. Responsibilities include serving as the department’s policy makers, approving Wildlife Code regulations and budget development. Blair is past president of the Missouri Conservation Heritage Foundation, a current board member for the Conservation Federation of Missouri, and has served on local, state and national committees for Ducks Unlimited. He is also a principal and member of the board of directors at investment advisory firm Moneta Group LLC.
