Students get ready for the final academic push of the semester -- finals week.


Wine & Grape
The 4th Annual Grape and Wine Research Symposium was held May 8 at Monsanto Auditorium. The symposium was hosted by MU’s Grape and Wine Institute and showcased the promising work occurring at MU and other institutions. Topics included an overview of Missouri’s viticultural history in the 1800s, and research presentations ranged from applied research topics, such as how wineries are organized in emerging wine regions, to basic science, such as genetic marker-assisted grape breeding.

Collegiate Cattlewomen provided information about the beef industry and sold steak sandwiches at Lowry Mall April 29 as part of Meet Your Meat. A live beef animal was showcased during the event as well.


Jones Announcement
Pat Jones talks to Stephen Anderson, William A. Albrecht Distinguished Professor of Soil and Environmental Sciences, at the recognition of her gift to the School of Natural Resources to endow research on youth education and to establish a named faculty position in SNR. The recognition was held before the 2015 William Albrecht Earth Day Lecture April 22.

CAFNR Dean Tom Payne and Associate Deans Marc Linit and Bryan Garton answered stuff-submitted questions (and enjoyed Tiger Stripe!) at Staff Advisory Council's Get the Scoop event April 22 at Eckles Cafe.


Water Symposium
Jason Hubbart opens the inaugural symposium of The Center for Watershed Management and Water Resources, "Water for Agriculture: Challenges for this Century," April 16. The opening keynote presentation was given by Robert W. Sterner, Professor, University of Minnesota Duluth, and Director, Large Lakes Observatory, UMD Department of Biology. Closing keynote by Karen Fluornoy, Director, Water, Wetlands and Pesticides Division, EPA Region 7.
