Abner Womack, professor emeritus of agricultural economics, spoke to the crowd at a conference in his honor Thursday, March 13, at Bradford Research Center. The first Abner W. Womack Missouri Agriculture Outlook Conference presented a discussion of the outlook for the farm economy and initial thoughts on the new farm bill and other policy developments. Womack spoke during lunch, sharing a collection of entertaining stories.
Bagels with the Boys
Staff members joined Dean Tom Payne and associate deans Marc Linit and Bryan Garton for breakfast and a town-hall style meeting Wednesday, March 12, in Memorial Union. Staff were encouraged to submit questions ahead of time online, to be answered at the event. CAFNR's Staff Advisory Council sponsored the breakfast.
Chris Heim, senior in forestry, pours sap harvested from maple trees at CAFNR's Baskett Research Center. Around 100 sugar maple trees were tapped recently to harvest the sap. The collected sap is then boiled and turned into syrup.
Hospitality Management Career Fair
Approximately 215 students and 31 employers attended the Hospitality Management Career Fair March 5 in Eckles Hall. Career panels were held in the morning, followed by the afternoon fair.
CAFNR Ag Unlimited Banquet and Auctions 2014 was held Saturday, Feb. 15, at the Holiday Inn Expo Center, and was a record year for attendance -- more than 800 guests enjoyed the event. Here Dean Tom Payne stands with an "Alice Cutout" in his wife's absence from the annual event.
