Tasty news from the College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources! The College’s Buck’s Ice Cream, produced on the University of Missouri campus, is now the official ice cream of the Missouri Tigers. It will be sold at MU sporting events, starting with the MU vs. Southeastern Louisiana football game, Saturday, Sept. 1.

Buck’s is a product of CAFNR’s Food Science Program and crafts more than 30 flavors of premium, quality ice cream. It is just part of an integrated research, teaching and service-oriented laboratory where students learn everything about ice cream, from maintenance and inventory to manufacturing and retail. Buck’s signature Tiger Stripe flavor consists of French vanilla blended with Dutch cocoa.
Food scientists work to ensure the foods that fill your shopping cart are safe, nutritious and delicious. CAFNR’s food science program specifically emphasizes Missouri’s three major food commodities: dairy; meat; and wine.
“Due to excellent industry connections and in-house opportunities in our dairy and meat pilot plants, as well as our winery, our students can already apply their knowledge in the ‘real world’ even before entering the workforce,” said Ingolf Gruen, program chair and associate professor of food chemistry. “Considering that the food industry is the largest industry in the U.S. and in the world, the employment opportunities for our students are outstanding.” Learn more about the program at http://foodscience.missouri.edu/
