Homecoming 2007 CAFNR Student Council Participation
Last year, the CAFNR Student Council was highly successful competing in the campus organizations category of Homecoming. We took home awards for First Place in Blood Drive and Float, and First Overall for Campus Organizations in the fall of 2006. Below is a little more information about our participation this year.
CAFNR Student Council has nominated Ashley Noblitt and Jacob Adams for Homecoming Royalty. Here is a little about them.
Ashley Noblitt's favorite things:
- Activities: Student Council President, Ag Ed Society President
- Favorite Homecoming experience: My sophomore year getting up really early to have a breakfast to support Ben Marshall in the Gentry parking lot and getting a good spot for the parade. It was also pretty awesome to see Ben propose to his future wife during the Homecoming game.
- If I had a super power it would be: To snap my fingers and be at any particular place I wanted.
- Dream Job: To be a NASCAR Wife
- Special Talent: Whistling
Some more important information about your president as told by Ashley:
I am from Bolivar, Missouri. I am an Agricultural Education major with a teaching emphasis. I am minoring in Plant Science and Agricultural Economics. After graduation I plan on being a high school agriculture teacher and FFA adviser.
Jacob Adams' favorite Homecoming Activities: Homecoming House decorations and the Parade (both great activities that any student council member would enjoy attending)
- Favorite Homecoming experience: Winning the CAFNR float last year
- If I had a super power it would be: To be stretchy like Mr. Fantastic
- Dream Job: Tour guide at Disney World
- Special Talent: Building things
Some more important information about your vice president as told by Jacob:
I am from Columbia, Missouri. I am studying Agricultural Education here and am in the teaching program. After graduation, I hope to attend graduate school in Agricultural Education and later teach at the high school level. Student Council has been one of my favorite activities here at school, although I am involved in others, and I would like to continue to stay involved after graduation.
Jacob and Ashley are not the only CAFNR students to make it into the running for royalty for Homecoming 2007.
Let's congratulate Jacob for making it into the top ten! Along with Jacob, James Tvrdy and Brandi McDowel are also in the top ten royalty. Ross Pierson, who is an active Alpha Gamma Rho and past president of the fraternity, is our honorary CAFNR student in the top ten. When you see any of these outstanding students congratulate them on their accomplishments!
Blood Drive
Mizzou's Homecoming Blood Drive is one of the largest blood drives in the world. Last year CAFNR Student Council helped to donate more than any other non-Greek organization on campus.
This year's blood drive will run from noon to 8 p.m. on Oct. 9 and 10, and from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Oct. 11 at the Hearnes Center. All CAFNR students and faculty are encouraged to give. Anyone who gives blood can give in the name of two student organizations, so please mention CAFNR Student Council. For eligibility requirements to give, please visit Stop in the Name of Blood 2007 Homecoming Blood Drive.
Satellite Blood Drives are also running in conjunction with the Homecoming Blood Drive. The locations for the satellite drives are St. Louis, Kansas City, Springfield, Cape Girardeau, Jefferson City, Kirksville and Denver, Co. If you know anyone in any of these areas, encourage them to give.
Parade
The Homecoming parade will take place the morning of Oct. 20 before the Homecoming Game. Come out and support the Tigers and watch for the CAFNR Student Council Float. The float's theme is "Around the World with Truman." Last year's Student Council Float took first in the non-Greek competition, and we're hoping to do it again.
Float decorating will take place the Wednesday, Thursday and possibly the Friday, before Homecoming. All members are encouraged to help build the float and make CAFNR Student Council's name known again for participating in Homecoming!
