CAFNR Students on Livestock Judging Team perform well in national contest

CAFNR students on 2009 University of Missouri Livestock Judging Team perform well in Dixie National Rodeo and Livestock Show

The 2009 University of Missouri Livestock Judging Team competed well in the Dixie National Judging contest in Mississippi recently. It is an all-beef contest that has four divisions: Market Cattle, British Breeds, Continental Breeds and Brahman-influenced Breeds.

The rodeo and livestock show, held in Jackson, features some of the best cowboys in the region.  Nearly every sort of livestock are shown here, and growers compete for top prizes. The prize animals are then auctioned to buyers seeking the finest beef, pork, poultry and lamb.

In the Overall Awards category, Lance Martin took the fourth High Individual honors. Perry took eighth place and Lewis was ninth.

In the Brahman Division, Lance Martin earned the second High Individual award.

In the Continental Division, Lewis was named High Individual, Lance Martin was sixth High Individual and Perry was tenth High Individual.

In the Market Division, Bowling earned the High Individual award. In the British Division, Lance Martin was third High Individual and Perry was eighth High Individual.
