More than $25,000 in scholarships are awarded to college students from an 11-state region pursuing a four-year or graduate degree in an agriculture-related field.
"The Royal Ten collegiate leadership and scholarship program is just one of the many programs the American Royal sponsors in order to invest in our young people committed to agricultural excellence," said Al Davis, manager of education at the American Royal.
The recipients will return to Kansas City on Oct. 1 to attend the world's largest barbeque contest at the American Royal. On Oct. 22, the recipients will help facilitate five days of school tours that educate youth about agriculture. Activities for the recipients will conclude on Nov. 2 with the American Royal Premium Livestock Auction.
The American Royal, a non-profit organization that benefits youth and education, is now in its 109th year.
In 2008, the organization contributed more than $1.5 million in financial support in the form of scholarships, educational awards, educational programs, community donations, competitive awards and prize monies and premiums.
