Carl Hausmann
CEO Bunge North America
April 9-10, 2009
Hausmann was appointed CEO of Bunge North America in January 2004. He was most recently the CEO of Bunge Europe, the position he held since coming to Bunge with the acquisition of Cereol S.A. in 2002. He was previously president and CEO of Cereol. He has also held chief executive positions with Cereol affiliates Eridania Béghin-Say, Cereol Europe and Central Soya.
Hausmann began his career in 1978 at Continental Grain, where he worked in South America, Europe, Africa and the United States. He is a past president of Fediol, the European association of oilseed crushers.
He received a B.S. in business from Boston College and an M.B.A from the INSEAD.
He is married to Silvia and they have two daughters—one in college (Wash U) and the other in high school. Silvia is originally from South America. He served in the military in Vietnam and was on the same boat as John Kerry. Described as incredibly "down to earth" and interested in college recruiting, he frequently visits college campuses.
Hausmann visited MU in September 2005 with CAFNR alum Aaron Wiegand (1997 Gen Ag). They met with Dean Payne, FAPRI, John Gardner, Marc Linit, and Mike Nolan as well as John Walker from Life Sciences. They indicated interest in internships and FAPRI.
