Outstanding Teaching Award Criteria

Nomination packets must be submitted by 5 p.m., March 2, 2009, to:

Office of the Vice Chancellor and Dean
2-69 Agriculture Building
Attn: James Hundle

All nominees not receiving award recognition this year will be held for consideration for the following year's award.

Note: Junior faculty would be less than 6 years of teaching (faculty level) experience (combined at MU or elsewhere).

  • Using nontechnical language, in one page or less, clearly describe the most important aspect(s) of the nominee's achievements/contributions/activities that qualify him/her for this award.
  • Summarize prior recognition nominee has received for both work and public service.
  • Provide a summary (one page or less) of the nominee’s "philosophy of teaching and learning."

Completed Nomination Packets Must Include:

  1. This nomination form signed by the nominator; the above criteria items attached.
  2. A one-page biography and/or curriculum vitae.
  3. Minimum of three support letters.
  4. Written comments from student evaluations for the last two years.
  5. A table summarizing numerical student evaluations, peer evaluations of actual classroom/laboratory instruction.
  6. Newspaper articles or other pertinent materials may be included.

* A recent Kemper Award application would suffice for the above requirements.

Note: Incomplete or late nominations will not be reviewed.
